Raven Simone on Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams had Cosby star Raven Simone on her show today. I was so thrilled because she has been behind the scenes. I must admit I didn’t appreciate Raven in the past, now I value strong stern women. As a young woman, I am so happy to have a role model as succesful as Raven Simone.

              During her visit Raven opened up about her first kiss and upcoming endeavors. Wendy and I were all smiles to see how the young woman matured. She is already worth about $400 million dollars and I not sure how she can conquer the world again. Raven reminded me how obtainable my dreams are if I work hard and put business first. I hope I can meet and talk with her someday.

Kim and Carl

Carl’s Jr. has a new cranberry apple walnut salad, and who would be better at promoting this healthy lifestyle than Kim Kardashian? I don’t know anyone. Kim is sexy in a very subtle way. The media has exploited sex and it is growing redundant. It was very refreshing for me to see Kim in a robe not a bikini and for her to leave a little for the imagination (sorry Paris). In this commercial everyone wins. Guys see Kim and girls want wish they were Kim.

            I seen this commercial and purchased the salad about 10 times and I will still buy it again. I am living proof that society can evolve into good health habits. I applaud companies in Carl’s Jr and Taco Bell for attempting to sell a product that won’t kill you (as fast). However, I’ll be when I can get a healthy delicious lunch instead of the fast food options on every corner.

Applebee’s Advertising

Applebee’s has a low-calorie promotion that has run on several stations. From my understanding weight loss ads are usually aimed towards women, so it stood out that this commercial targets men. About four men were ordering food and all wanted items from the low cal menu. I tried to watch this commercial seriously….but I was honestly confused. Why are men usually excluded from healthy diet ads?

     
Men seem to have beefier appetites and the healthy options usually aren’t satisfying. All men are not closed-minded about their diet choice but I feel there  more options could have a better filling effect. For now, Applebees should have used that commercial to target women. Applebees isn’t the tastiest restaurant of choice and may have used unnecessary finances in the wrong department. When Applebees gets a new and improved taste and experience, they will be more successful in advertising.

Super Bowl Vs. Man crunching

In 2010 I thought America would be more tolerant of the homosexual community. Prop 8 and many other events proves different. The NFL charges about 2 million dollars for super bowl commercials. It seems after the Janet Jackson scandal, the Superbowl has turned super conservative. After approving a controversial pro-life ad, they did not accept an ad from a gay dating site .

In the commercial two fans lock a kiss after intimately touching popcorn. I don’t see why it was such a big deal? The NFL needs to accept that there is a gay audience and their lack of tolerance is offensive. If this company raised the money the should have a fair shot at advertising. I am so confused because penal dysfunction commercials are ran all the time.

Vampire Hollywood

Everyone has seen how popular vampires became over the last year. Twilight, Vampire diaries, true blood you name it. Even rap star Jay-z has adapted the demonic culture into his  videos. Is this a trend that is here to stay? It’s very hard for me to tell.

          Personally I am not a fan and this trend makes me feel ver uncomfortable. “Run this town” by Jay-z made me notice that something has changed about his delivery. He used to inspire and uplift me but now …were not on the same page. I even waited to his next single “On to the next one”,  just to see if he was maybe on the next one,  but he wasn”t. Although his songs are catchy, you have to pay attention to all details. Let me know what you think.

Shameful Recall

On January 21, 2010 Toyota recalled about 2.3 million cars due to a faulty pedal system. A CHP officer and his family were killed driving the 2009 Lexus ES 350. The CHP Officer Saylor was given the vehicle after he dropped his off for service. Since this major recall, Toyota hasn’t recieved any major negativity from the media. Why?

         Toyota is a regular advertiser for many publications. In fact, even the articles that tell the public about this problem can easily be mistaken for an  advertisement. Although the media has a duty to the public, its bias to its client is clear. I find it interesting that the media would rather exaggerate stories of no substance and not focus on the many lives around the world that are in danger by Toyota’s incompetence.

Charity concert

Tonight at 8pm is the concert to raise money for Haiti. Everyone from Beyoncé to Keith Urban will perform. I am so excited to see so many stars use their status for a good cause. “Hope for Haiti” will help dramatically, however I am curious to see which celebrities will give funds personally. If we can give $10.00 in a text message and raise $25 million dollars, we can imagine what the celebrity pot would raise. I hope this line up will not stop there efforts after tonight. Haiti is going to continuous need love and support until this land’s healed.

Help to Haiti?

There have been so many donations to the Haiti. I plan to donate myself, but I noticed that 25 million dollars has been donated so far and nothing has been done. When Katrina devastated New Orleans many organizations took donations and practically did nothing to help the victims. Time is of the essence and I would like to know  the plan-of-action to rescue Haiti. I feel for these people and want to make sure everyones effort isn’t overlooked.

        In America  25 million dollars has limitations, however Haiti is a different story. Countless corpses need removal, victims need treatment, everyone needs food, and hygiene and sanitation is vital. The world’s responsibility is to do everything possible to make sure that this situation doesn’t escalate. Although many people were fortunate to avoid the turmoil of Haiti, the earth is still at risk of major health problems. We must simply do more.

Chris Brown the artist?

We all know what happened between Chris Brown and Rihanna.  Chris Brown was disapointed to learn his pre-mature new album Graffitti , sold around 100,000 copies his first week. Chris Brown twitters the following:

“I’m tired of this shit. major stores r blackballing my cd. not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers. what the fuck do i gotta do…
WTF… yeah i said it and i aint retracting shit
im not biting my tongue about shit else… the industry can kiss my ass…”

Its fair to say the industry has not for forgiven Chris Brown. Although his new video “I can transform ya” has proven that Chris is at his best as an entertainer, it doesn’t seem like it is enough to win over the public again. While “Chris Brown” has matured, the media is not convinced that Christopher Brown has grown.

Is it fair what the media is doing to Chris Brown? Should the public over his mistakes to appreciate his reign as an artist? Watch this video and let me know what you think.

Grammys 2010

So many great things happened to music 2009. My favorite is Lady Gaga. Her crazy/beautiful style has captured the hearts of many. Will this be her Grammy takeover? With five nominations she is contending with Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Tune in Jan. 31, 2010 at 8pm
